Have you thought about contibuting positively to the welfare of the African Community in Ballarat?The Ballarat African Association Executive Transition Committee invites current & past members along with the wider community to take part in electing the new Executive Committee to hold term for the next two years. Nominations can be for any persons who have links to the African community and believe they could offer themselves to be a dedicated member of the committee as per the Ballarat African Association Charter. Following the BAA Executive Committee Election, everyone is invited to wander across to the Ballarat City Brewers Baseball Club for a BBQ & Baseball Try Out; Ballarat City Brewers Baseball Club is looking for new members for the upcoming summer season. The club would like to offer an invitation to the African Community, young and old to come try out.

The City Brewers Baseball Club was formed in 1931 and entered the Ballarat Baseball Association competition and won premierships in its first three years of competition. The Club competed in the top level of the Ballarat Baseball Association until 1974 when the Association merged with the Geelong Baseball Association. The Club has fielded senior and junior teams in the BBA and GBA winter competitions continuously and has won 50 premierships and has been runner-up also on 50 occasions since 1931.

The Club has also provided over the years numerous Executive members of the Ballarat Association, coaches of Ballarat senior and junior teams and Executive members and coaches for the Victorian Provincial Baseball League which is now known as Baseball Victoria.

In the recent 2013/14 summer the Club entered two teams in the Baseball Victoria Melbourne summer competition, which is the premier competition in the State, and won the Division3 premiership and came fourth in Division 3 seconds. This is the first time a regional club has entered a team in the Melbourne summer competition.

After an absence of twelve years without a junior program the Club is conducting a local junior program and has entered an Under15 team in this year’s Geelong winter competition and will be entering junior teams in the Melbourne 2014/15 summer competition.

The Club is looking for new members for the its upcoming summer season. The club would like to offer an invitation to the African Community, young and old to come try on Saturday 30th August 1pm – 3pm in conjunction with a BBQ. Although the club is in the Winter season at the moment, please call the below numbers if you want to start now.

The Club’s home ground is at Prince of Wales Park, Gillies St., Ballarat and constitutes an all-weather, fully lit ground and clubrooms.
